To reach this goal, a mixed methods research was followed relying on two different research instrument: a questionnaire for students and interviews for teachers. A Questionnaire was administered to (50) fifty students whereas the interview was done with three teachers of literary course. The gathered data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results show that there is an underuse of the IPT in teaching literature. Student‟s questionnaires reveals that the primarily focus of the teacher is on direct questions to present new lessons in literature. Furthermore, the results also show that the teacher‟s role and the techniques used during the literary lectures are considered to be extremely important in the process of enhancing the understanding of the different components of literary texts.enApplying the information processing approach to teach literature in foreign language classrooms.
