The study examines how femininity and masculinity are socially constructed in Regency England and how patriarchal ideology, class hierarchy, and marriage shape social relations, individual identities, and social expectations. It also investigates the ways Jane Austen critiques these structures through irony, satire, characterization, and various narrative strategies. The research applies Fairclough‘s analytical framework to selected passages from the three novels through textual analysis, discursive practice, and social practice. At the textual level, the study focuses on lexical choices, sentence structure, dialogue, and evaluative language. The discursive level examines how discourse reflects social expectations and ideological assumptions related to gender, marriage, authority, morality, and class distinctions. At the social level, the analysis highlights the influence of patriarchy, inheritance laws, and social hierarchy on women‘s agency, independence, and social position. The findings reveal that Austen‘s novels not only reflect the realities of Regency society but also challenge its ideological structures. Her female heroines demonstrate intellectual awareness and moral resistance within rigid social systems, while male authority is often associated with wealth, inheritance, privilege, and social status. The study concludes that Austen employs discourse as an alternative form of social critique, exposing inequalities embedded in patriarchal and class based structures while presenting gender as a socially constructed and performed identity rather than a fixed biological role.
