dc.description.abstract | Shortage problems and deteriorating quality of water, have led to increased interest in the reuse of treated wastewater in many countries of the world. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of such practices on the environment and specifically on the biotic domain. The wastewater samples collected from the discharge points of the three cities Oum el Bouaghi, Khenchela and Ain Beida have been characterized : (EC, pH, BOD and COD), micro and macro - nutrients and heavy metals. The results showed significant variations in the composition of these waters. Wastewater is considered to be a very important source for producing crops (eg barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) due to the shortage of irrigation water in the Algerian High Plains region and especially the Tarf basin. The bioessays were to investigate the effect of irrigation with treated wastewater (ABP / KhP) and not treated (OEB/ ABV / KhV) at different dilutions on germination of barley yield and white henbane (plant of Therapeutic interest). The results show no effect of the raw and purified waters of the town of Khenchela on the germination of barley compared to their effect on the germination of the white henbane (between 6.25% and 18.75% germinated) for the raw water and (between 12.5% and 43.75% germinated) for treated water. The waters of the town of Ain Beida seem to have more effect on the germination of barley (between 31.25% and 75% germinated) among the other stations. | |
