Abstract
The use of treated wastewater in agriculture is among the positive ways to preserve groundwater and dams and use them as an alternative to irrigation due to water scarcity due to climate change that has led to a decrease in rainfall and consequent shortage of dams and well water. This work was carried out in order to know the effect of treated wastewater on the properties of the soil, in particular on its texture and its structure. In order to know the effect of purified wastewater, we conducted a study on a type of durum wheat (TriticumdurumDesf) using three samples of the same variety of durum wheat and irrigating it with three types of water from different sources. The first source is raw wastewater, the second is tap water, and the third source is wastewater purified in the sewage treatment plant in the city of Kais, Wilaya of Khenchela, and the extent to which the plant and basic soil components are affected. The results show that the infiltration of treated water has both positive and negative effects. The positive results are represented by the enrichment of the soil in fertilized elements by increasing the proportion of organic matter in the soil. As for the negative results, they are represented in the blockage of soil pores and the leaching of soil components is one of the phenomena that lead to soil depletion.
