Abstract
Writing is one of the productive skills which is difficult to acquire for EFL
learners. The aim of this study is to investigate the EFL students’ attitudes towards
brainstorming as pre-writing stage to improve the writing process. Also, it aims at
examining the effect of the writing process, and more precisely the brainstorming stage on
the students’ writing performance. Moreover, the main goal of this work is to increase
many opportunities for EFL students to write using the brainstorming stage.in this
research we opted for a descriptive method in this research. A questionnaire is dispatched
for second year LMD students of English and an interview is administered to teachers of
written expression course at the University of ABBES LAGHROUR. The findings
showed that the brainstorming stage play an important role in developing the EFL students
written production. It helps execute creative ideas which help them to overcome the
difficulties they may face when they write. Therefore, it can be marked that both teachers
and students believe that the target EFL students improve their writing skill through
brainstorming stage.
