Abstract
Abstract :
Skin diseases play an important role in infectious pathologies nowadays. Therefore, the
discovery of natural resources from the plant kingdom remains crucial for the development of
new therapeutic remedies. It is in this context that the present study aims to develop an
antimicrobial soap based on snail mucus to test its bactericidal effectiveness and residual
effects.
In our work, we have chosen olive oil due to its numerous advantages that positively
affect the human skin. Olive oil is rich in vitamins, preserves the health of the epidermis,
enhances its radiance, and possesses various beneficial properties such as protection, selftanning, and anti-aging effects. We have chosen it specifically for its bactericidal effectiveness,
residual effects, and antiseptic properties.
We have synthesized a soap through two preparations (hot and cold methods), achieving
a high yield with the hot method, specifically 50 grams, which is a surprising result.
Furthermore, we conducted physicochemical and, most importantly, bacteriological
studies to assess the effectiveness of olive oil-based soaps and evaluate their antiseptic power
and residual effects. We found that the foam length of the cold soap was 2.5 cm, indicating an
excellent result. The melting point was determined to be 75.7°C for the cold soap and 83.5°C
for the hot soap. In the bacteriological study, we observed that approximately 90% of the
bacteria on the hands were eliminated after using the cold soap. Therefore, it is a highly
effective and useful product for everyday life prevention.
Based on the obtained results, the soap appears to have excellent residual effects, and
the skin on the hands seems to be protected from bacterial contamination.
