Abstract
ABSTRACT
Occupying the central part of the province of Khenchela, El Arab river basin covers an area of 567
km2 which is part of the great watershed Chott Melghir. The study shows that hydro climatic for the study
area is characterized by a semi-arid climate, reflecting supply conditions and very unfavorable flow
particularly high evaporation.
The hydrochimical study of the watershed of Oued El Arab has allowed us to have an overview of the
quality status of water in the region. The evolution of the chemical elements shows that high concentrations
of sulphate, calcium and magnesium or chemical facies sulfated calcium is related sulfated évaporétiques or
salt formations such as gypsum. For other chemical elements concentrations are lower to eligible standards.
Surface waters in the study area from the Riverside Wilcox and charts are good to excellent for irrigation.
