In order to detect climate change or variability in the Khenchela region, an analysis of climatic variations - mainly extreme rainfall indices - was carried out on the El Hamma station over a period of 25 years (1994-2018). Trends have affected our study area, a significant decrease in total annual precipitation, maximum daily rainfall and the number of rainy days. And an increase of about two days of rainfall greater than or equal to 10 mm / d and five days for precipitation greater than or equal to 1 mm / d, over the 25-year period was noticed. Floods could be even more devastating in the event of truly exceptional rainfall, after the flood that hit the region in 2013.
