dc.description.abstractAbstract: A better understanding of the evolution of land use patterns and vegetation cover is a major concern in semi-arid regions whose ecosystems are subject to severe natural and anthropogenic degradation. In this context, our study focuses on the endothecia sub-basin of Garat Et Tarf, and which aims to characterize spatiotemporal changes in land use, from a diachronic analysis of the study area, based on the integration of GIS and remote sensing. The data used in this study are, the satellite images "Landsat 5 (1990), Lansat 7 (2000), Landsat 5 (2010), and Landsat 8 (2020), and this covers a period of 30 years. Indeed, our methodological approach is based on the digital processing of satellite images, the digitization of different useful information; we use different indices (NDVI, SAVI, and LULC) indicators of land use. The image analysis results show significant spatiotemporal variability in land use during the study period. We come to the following development in urban areas and the expansion of agricultural areas. We also note the stability and in areas of forests, of the sebkha, in addition to this, a decrease in the percentage of water to the point of its absence
