Abstract
This study examines the criminal mechanisms for environmental protection
under Algerian legislation, by analyzing the legal procedures adopted to combat
environmental crimes, starting from the investigation phase, through judicial inquiry,
to trial and enforcement of judgments. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of
these mechanisms in reducing environmental crimes and protecting natural
resources.
The research relies on both descriptive and analytical approaches, focusing on
the analysis of relevant legal texts, particularly those related to criminal procedure
and environmental protection laws. It also highlights the role of judicial police, the
importance of environmental expertise, and the role of the judiciary in handling
environmental cases.
The study concludes that Algerian legislation provides a comprehensive legal
framework for environmental protection; however, its effectiveness depends largely
on practical implementation, as well as the availability of technical and human
resources. The study recommends strengthening the legal framework, improving
evidence-gathering techniques, and enhancing specialized training in environmental
matters
