Abstract
Abstract The rising interest in writing especially at higher levels has developed entirely to become a distinguished discipline on its own. The current study is done to investigate student’s common errors and difficulties in writing, it aims at developing student's abilities in writing, and proving that reading plays a major role in teaching writing. The study is directed to third year LMD students at The Department of English at the University of Abbes Laghrour khenchela. The main objective of this study is to investigate the main fundamental hypothesis set by the writers which is; Student's writing errors are derived from two main aspects lack of both reading and practice. In order to prove the validity of the hypothesis, a descriptive method was employed. And the investigation was conducted into a form of student's questionnaire delivered to twenty eight third year students of a total population of approximately 150 students. After collecting data and findings the writers came up with a result that third year student still suffer from lack of practice writing as result of the absence of reading.
