Abstract
ABSRACT This study aims at exploring EFL students’ writing difficulties in their English writing. The participants in the study are 30 randomly selected from 2nd year students of English at the University of Khenchela (Abbes Laghror). To achieve the research aims, we have conducted a qualitative study with two research instruments, Through the students’ questionnaire, the first instrument, we have tried to shed lights on students’ views concerning different points which are related either to writing in general or to the paragraph as a piece of writing. Through the second instrument, teachers’ interview, we have tried to mirror teachers’ perceptions towards a lot of issues concerning paragraph writing as a current problem that affects their students. The results obtained revealed that the majority of students encountred difficulties in vocabulary, grammar and mechanics in addition to the reasons that lead to students’ low achievement in paragraph writing. Based on these findings, teachers are advised to take into account students’ writing problems, and the elaboration of more writing sessions are among the pedagogical implications.
