Abstract
Abstract
With the industrial and agricultural development in the world today, water remains the
essential element for the continuity of this development. As a result, the rate of water demand
is gradually increasing every year all the way to limited water resources.
The Oued Chemora watershed located in the northeast of Algeria, under a semi-arid climate is
an agricultural region, which makes this sector the first applicant in water. To meet this need
of multiple projects of mobilization of the resources in water are placed namely, dam, water
transfer and sewage treatment plant.
In our study, we used the FAO-recommended Water Assessment and Planning System
(WEAP) as an unavoidable alternative to water supply forecasting and supply and demand
simulation. The results showed that the mobilization of water resources in the study area will
find in the near future its physical and economic limits. To solve this problem, it is necessary
to link the priorities of the coming years to a water demand management policy.
