Abstract
Health care waste represents a health risk to personnel, the public and the environment by the pollution they generate. The management of health care waste is therefore crucial, and must respect the fundamental steps: sorting, collection, storage, grinding of DAS and transport of DAOM. This management at EPH level BEN BELLA Ahmed is facing problems despite the efforts made in recent years to improve this area and the importance given is to avoid the risks of contamination of humans and the environment. This study focuses on the management of health care waste through daily quantification, quality of sorting, conformity of packaging used, storage and disposal by grinding. Despite a remarkable effort by the administration of EPH BEN BELLA Ahmed, numerous anomalies are revealed in this study and this in each management step: the mixing of DASRI with DAOM, the non respect of the circuit of the DAS and the DAOM And non-health prevention of staff. The solution lies in staff training and awareness. The hospital health department, which has to put in place a management plan, must take into account the safety of the internal staff, the safety of the public and the preservation of the environment (air, water).
