Abstract Fertile soils are the basis of agricultural production, effective nutrient management and soil fertility are essential for sustainable and profitable crops. The objective of our work is to study the contribution of earthworm excretions on some physicochemical characteristics of soils (granulometry, pH, organic matter, electrical conductivity, tradable cations) and their impact on some morphophysiological parameters lettuce. For this we chose three levels of intake (100, 250 and 500g of the earthworm excretion / 3Kg of soil). In the light of the laboratory results, we found that the earthworm excretions are rich in nutrients such as nitrogen, calcium and potassium, which are very rich in organic matter (18.63%), and this is due to the fact that Selective feeding of earthworms that based on organic matter, as well as characterized by low alkaline acidity and electrical conductivity of 0.49 ms / cm, indicating that it is an unsalted substrate. the contribution of the earthworm excretion increased the soil content of organic matter, total nitrogen, potassium and total limestone, and it also had a positive effect on chlorophyll, above-ground and root biomass and on lettuce growth. Our study also indicated that the dose of 500g of the earthworm excretion / 3Kg soil generated the greatest increases in the different parameters. In general, the earthworm excretion plays a primordial role in fertility and equilibrium in the soil ecosystem.
