Abstract
Abstract This dissertation seeks to improve EFL learners writing skill through the use of classroom discussion . It aims at testing the effect of discussion based approach enhancing First Year Secondary School learners of English writing skill . Therefore, this research hypothesises that if written expression teachers are aware of classroom discussion techniques as a teaching method and implement them in their classes, students’ written production will be enhanced. Accordingly, to test this hypothesis a quantitative research method was adopted and was based on statistical and descriptive data in order to strengthen the validity and reliability of the present research. The findings of provided evidence that first year secondary school learners of English need to enhance and promote their writing skill through the collaborative work which based on the use of discussion to pave the way from them to share their interests . Moreover, the results of the findings proved that the participants asserted the use of classroom discussion in their classes . Accordingly, the main conclusion drawn from this study is the need to include classroom discussion in the regular lessons and to teach its with the inclusion of various activities .
