Abstract
Abstract
The evaluation of the insecticidal potential and the larvicidal activity of the aqueous and
methanolic extracts of Melia azedarach and Juglans regia on Thaumetopoea pityocampa in
first stage L1 was carried out by testing three doses: 100, 500 and 1000 ppm of each extract
under laboratory conditions. The results demonstrated that the lethal larvicidal effect of the
four plant extracts of Melia azedarach and Juglans regia aqueous or methanolic compared to
the control was very high, 100% of mortality in 72 hours in the batches treated with the
aqueous extract of Juglan regia at 100ppm and 1000ppm also on larvae treated with 500ppm
of aqueous extract of juglan and melia, however the methanolic extract of Melia azedarach
had the lowest mortality rate with 66% at 100 and 500 ppm and 88% at 1000ppm. For the
tests on the apis mellifera bee and the black ants the low doses of the Melia azedarach and
Juglans regia are harmless on these insects except for on ants treated with the aqueous extract
of Melia azedarach.
