| dc.description.abstract | Abstract: The present study aims at investigating peer challenge in enhancing students‟ speaking skill. Peer challenge is useful technique that can be used by teachers to raise the students‟ level in speaking the target language. It also attempts to shed some light on the importance of motivation when it comes to improving the oral fluency. Modern teaching methods of foreign languages count on involving the use of different motivational strategies and activities which support the development of students‟ awareness about the importance of these strategies. Speaking in a foreign language has often been viewed as the most demanding of the four skills. As well as speaking skill is often the most important factor in EFL courses, and yet the difficulties in testing oral skills frequently lead teachers into using several techniques that make the students interact with each others in classroom. The method of this research work is quite descriptive. The data were gathered through self completion questionnaires administered to third-year learners and to teachers who have taught at the Department of English, Abess Laghrour University, Khenchela. The results have shown that peer challenge is the right technique for increasing learners‟ motivation to speak and participate in the classroom oral participation. The results were confirmed by the analysis of both students and teachers‟ questionnaires. | |
