Abstract
Abstract
This study explores the use of artificial intelligence (AI) applications or tools in enhancing writing skills for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. Traditional teaching methods often fall short in providing personalized feedback and engaging students in iterative learning practices. AI applications, such as Grammarly, Quilbot and other AI-powered writing assistants were chosen for the study because they offer innovative solutions by providing real-time, individualized feedback on grammar, vocabulary, style, and coherence. The study explores the historical development of AI in education, highlighting the surge in AI adoption due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It examines the roles of both teachers and students in integrating AI tools into the learning process, We used a mixed-method design, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative approaches to collect findings, a questionnaire and an experiment, the results of the findings were that educational institutions can maximize the potential of AI tools in enhancing the writing skills of EFL students and the questionnaire findings collectively suggest that AI tools are generally viewed as effective in enhancing English writing skills among students , concluding that collaborative initiatives between educators, policymakers, and technology developers are essential for creating a synergistic ecosystem where AI enhances human expertise, transforming writing instruction to empower EFL learners with proficiency, confidence, and creativity in their second language.
