Abstract
ABSTRACT
Translation has become increasingly important on both national and global lewe ks; it is a subject worth a cbser study. There is a wide range of topics that could be investigated in terms of translational aspects. The purpose of this study is to investigate the translation problems that Third-year students encounter when trans hting idioms and the strategies adopted to overcame those challenges. To achieve the goal of this study, a qualitative investigation was carried out so that the research can accomplish is objectives and develop the measuring. An online translation test was designed and administered to a sample of 30 students of the 3rd year BA program at the Department of English in the Faculty of Foreign Languages, University of Abbes Laghrour Khenchela. The results of the study show that there are potential problems in the process of translating idioms from English into Arabic. These challenges are mostly rehted to the inability to find a target langung equivalent as well as the students' unawareness of the cultural differences between English and Arabic and idioms' categorization, which confirms the hypothesis of this research.
