Abstract
Fog computing has emerged as a promising paradigm for handling the increasing demands
of modern communication systems, particularly in the context of the Internet
of Things (IoT). This thesis provides an overview of the formal verification approach
for communication protocols in fog computing environments. With the proliferation of
interconnected devices and the critical need for reliable communication, ensuring the correctness
and security of communication protocols becomes paramount.
We explore various formal verification techniques, including model checking, and discuss
their applicability in verifying the correctness of communication protocols deployed in
fog computing environments. Additionally, we highlight the challenges and opportunities
in this area, such as scalability issues, handling dynamic network topologies, and addressing
security concerns. By leveraging formal verification techniques, we aim to enhance
the reliability and robustness of communication protocols in fog computing, ultimately
contributing to the advancement of this rapidly evolving field.
