MODELING AND SIMULATION OF THE ELECTRONIC AND OPTOELECTRONIC PROPERTIES OF CARBON NANOTUBES (APPLICATION TO C-CNTFET AND OG-CNTFET).
    (2026) Saad Eddine, KHEMISSI
This thesis presents a comprehensive study of nano-carbon transistors based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene nanoribbons (GNRs), focusing on their synthesis, fundamental electronic properties, and device architectures. It begins with an overview of carbon allotropes, highlighting the effects of material structure on electronic behavior. The work then reviews field-effect transistor (FET) fundamentals, progressing from conventional MOSFETs to various CNTFETs, with particular attention to optically gated CNTFETs and their potential in optoelectronic applications. Subsequently, the study explores the fabrication and operation of graphene nanoribbon FETs (GNRFETs), emphasizing their use in gas sensing. Through simulation, optical gating effects on CNTFET I–V characteristics and photocurrent generation are characterized. An applied investigation focuses on double-gated GNRFET gas sensors using LaAlO₃ gate dielectrics, analyzing sensor response to ammonia NH 3 exposure and the influence of parameters such as voltage, dielectric properties, and gas concentration on performance metrics. This research advances the understanding of nano-carbon device physics and applications for future nanoelectronic and sensing platforms.

Carleman Inequalities for singular Parabolic Equations and Applications
    (2026) Hichem, Ramoul
This thesis is devoted to the study of inverse source problems for singular and degenerate parabolic equations, including time-fractional diffusion models. Such problems arise naturally in many applications, but they are intrinsically ill-posed due to the smoothing effects of diffusion and, in the present setting, the presence of inverse-square singular potentials. These singularities destroy uniform ellipticity and require refined analytical tools to recover stability and uniqueness. The first part of the thesis adopts an optimal control perspective to address inverse source identification problems. The unknown source is treated as a control variable and recovered as the minimizer of a suitable cost functional involving final-time observations. Under subcritical assumptions on the singular potential, we establish the well-posedness of the direct problem in appropriate weighted Sobolev spaces, prove the existence of optimal controls, and derive stability estimates for the inverse problem. Numerical reconstruction algorithms based on iterative regularization methods are proposed and validated through computational experiments. The analysis is then extended to time-fractional diffusion equations with inverse-square potentials. In this setting, the nonlocal nature of fractional time derivatives introduces additional analytical and numerical challenges. Nevertheless, uniqueness results for the inverse source problem are obtained, and numerical simulations illustrate the influence of the fractional order and noise on the reconstruction process. The final part of the thesis is devoted to the study of Carleman inequalities for singular parabolic operators. We develop a shifted Carleman framework adapted to operators with interior inverse-square singularities and establish several key intermediate estimates. While the complete global Carleman inequality is not yet achieved, the analytical structure is clearly identified, and the main technical difficulties—particularly those related to localization arguments and Caccioppoli-type inequalities with singular weights—are thoroughly analyzed. This work lays the foundation for ongoing research conducted in collaboration with the supervisor.

Design And Development of an Intelligent Fire Risk Prediction System Based on Internet of Things (IOT) Technologies
    (2026) Abdelhakim, SAHOUR
The escalating global wildfire crisis, intensified by climate change, presents a critical socio-ecological threat in Mediterranean regions such as Algeria. Traditional monitoring systems, reliant on reactive firefighting and static risk maps, coupled with opaque artificial intelligence models, are demonstrably inadequate for proactive, trustworthy risk management. This doctoral research confronts these limitations by developing a novel, trans-disciplinary framework for real-time, interpretable forest fire risk prediction and mitigation. The core innovation is the synergistic integration of a robust, edge-deployed IoT sensor network with a multi-faceted hybrid intelligence engine. This architecture bridges critical operational gaps: a LoRaWAN-based Wireless Sensor Network acquires hyper-local data; a tripartite Explainable AI (XAI) framework (SHAP, BorutaSHAP, LIME) ensures model transparency; and a hybrid modeling core strategically partitions computation across an edge-cloud continuum for efficiency. Methodologically, the framework integrates ensemble classifiers (e.g., XGBoost, CatBoost), deep learning forecasters (LSTM, hybrid RNN-LSTM, NeuralProphet), Bayesian models, and a hierarchical fuzzy-logic system. A pivotal advancement is the incorporation of physics-informed regularization, which grounds predictions in fire behavior physics. The system was validated through comparative analysis across regions and longitudinal prototype testing in Khenchela Province using a multisource dataset (1997–2025). Results demonstrate state-of-the-art performance. A weighted LSTMNeuralProphet ensemble achieved an AUC-ROC of 0.999, an F1-Score of 0.987, andbalanced accuracy of 0.989. Classical ensembles attained a peak AUC of 0.9981 with precision and recall exceeding 99.7%. The fuzzy-logic subsystem showed a field deviation of ±4.8%, identifying temperature as a primary driver (55% influence). Critical indicators include the Mediterranean Fire Danger Index (MFDI) and Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI). The IoT infrastructure ensured data integrity with 100% duplicate elimination, while edge processing reduced latency by 40%. This thesis establishes a foundational framework for proactive wildfire resilience, providing a novel Environmental Intelligence methodology, a validated architectural blueprint, an interpretable hierarchy of context-specific drivers, and a practical decision-support tool. This work marks a paradigm shift from reactive firefighting to precision risk management, enhancing forest preservation, public safety, and resource allocation in fire-prone regions.

Toward a New Coordination Mechanism for Multi-Agent Systems Based on a Metaheuristic Approach
(2026) Mohammed el Habib , Souidi
Multi-agent systems (MAS) are now a critical tool for tackling complex problems in dynamic environments. Because of their high dimensionality and the computational complexity of these environments, it remains a significant challenge to coordinate these agents and plan their tasks and paths. The ability of metaheuristic approaches to find optimal solutions has often made them a promising option, but they struggle with issues like local optima, premature convergence, and a limited balance between exploration and exploitation. This thesis tackles these challenges by developing and evaluating the recent enhanced and hybridized metaheuristic algorithms tailored for solving MAS path planning and task coordination. The main contributions of this thesis include a new method for Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), named IB-PSO, which presents a novel approach to dynamically increase the inertia weight (IW) parameter inspired by the Butterworth function. It enhances the balance between exploration and exploitation of the PSO algorithm. This method is designed to solve the MAS pathplanning problem. Furthermore, the research provides a hybrid approach named CSO, which combines the Crow Search Algorithm (CSA) and PSO. It is particularly designed for MAS path planning with collision avoidance, leveraging the strengths of CSA in exploration and PSO in exploitation, using the velocity regulating method. The performance of these proposed methods is evaluated and compared with existing enhanced techniques. Ultimately, this research introduces new optimization methods that help advance the field of MAS coordination.

Synthesis, characterization, and applications of polymorphs, Metal- Organic Frameworks (MOFs), and organic-inorganic hybrid compounds based on nitrogen bases: Towards new materials with physicochemical properties
    (2026) BENALI-CHERIF Rim
This thesis investigates polymorphism in molecular solids and the structural chemistry of hybrid organic-inorganic compounds and organometallic complex through integrated experimental characterization (single-crystal X-ray diffraction, spectroscopy) and computational methods (density functional theory, Hirshfeld surface analysis). The research comprises three parts. Part One explores polymorphism through three model systems. A new triclinic polymorph of copper (II) diacetate monohydrate (space group P-1) was discovered which is consider as a Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) , exhibiting the smallest HOMO-LUMO gap among known forms and enhanced chemical reactivity. A new monoclinic polymorph of cytosinium gallate (space group P2₁) demonstrated stronger hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking with pharmaceutical relevance. A third polymorphic form of a rhodanine derivative (space group P2₁/c) revealed that polymorphism can arise primarily from packing variations with minimal electronic perturbation. Part Two reports the synthesis of N,N-dimethyl-4-[(Z)-(4-oxo-2-sulfanylidene-1,3thiazolidin-5-ylidene)methyl]anilinium bromide, a hybrid compound with a 2.53 eV HOMOLUMO gap and spatial separation of frontier orbitals, establishing donor-acceptor characteristics for potential applications in charge-transfer materials. Part Three characterizes a new cobalt(II) benzoylacetonate complex [Co(bzac)₂] with square-planar CoO₄ geometry (space group P2₁/n) exhibiting acicular morphology driven by strong π-π stacking, establishing structure-morphology correlations. This work demonstrates that polymorphism is ubiquitous across diverse chemical systems and that polymorphic differences produce measurable variations in electronic structure, stability, and packing relevant to pharmaceuticals, catalysis, and materials science. The integrated experimental-computational methodology provides a framework for rational materials design and crystal engineering.

Modélisation moléculaire et Complexation métallique : Etude DFT
    (2026) Ghouzala , BOUKEHIL

Effects of diffusion in controlling chaos in some tri-trophic food chains
    (2026) Said, Kouachi
This dissertation addresses the mathematical analysis of three-component reaction–diffusion systems, with a focus on their necessity in modelling complex phenomena across ecology, epidemiology, and developmental biology. Such systems provide a more realistic framework than classical two-component models, capturing intricate multi-species interactions, cross-diffusion processes, and spatially extended dynamics. The first part of the work establishes explicit algebraic conditions for the onset of diffusion-driven instability (Turing patterns) in tri-trophic models. By analysing the linearised spectrum of the reaction–diffusion operator, we derive parameter‑space criteria that determine when spatially homogeneous equilibria become unstable due to differential diffusion rates, leading to spontaneous pattern formation. The second part investigates the global existence of solutions for systems with full (including cross‑diffusion) matrices and polynomial growth nonlinearities. Using the method of invariant regions combined with Lyapunov‑type functionals, we prove that, under appropriate structural assumptions on the reaction kinetics and diffusion coefficients, solutions remain uniformly bounded for all time and satisfy suitable a priori estimates. The results are valid for a wide class of boundary conditions and do not require the diffusion matrix to be triangular or diagonal. The theoretical framework is illustrated with applications to ecological and biological models, highlighting the interplay between cross‑diffusion, stability thresholds, and long‑time behaviour. The thesis thus provides both a refined instability analysis for three‑component systems and a robust existence theory that extends previous results in the literature.

an organizational multi-agent approach for designing ambient intelligence systems
    (2025) abderrahim, sami
This thesis explores the design and development of adaptive, intelligent environments using Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) within the paradigm of Ambient Intelligence (AmI). Focusing on organization-centered MAS development, we investigate how structured agent interactions, combined with artificial learning techniques, can enhance system robustness, scalability, and responsiveness to dynamic contexts. We leverage the Moise organizational modeling language and the JaCaMo framework to create a unified platform for developing and managing MAS, integrating agents, their environment, and organizational governance. This approach allows us to model complex social structures, define roles and norms, and specify collective goals, thereby facilitating coordinated agent behavior and adaptation to changing circumstances. The efficacy of our approach is demonstrated through two distinct case studies. The first addresses the timely prediction of COVID-19 infections by leveraging Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) data and a distributed multi-agent architecture incorporating machine learning algorithms. The second applies our framework to the challenging problem of real-time course timetable scheduling, demonstrating its adaptability to dynamic constraints and resource allocation. Our findings highlight the transformative potential of combining organizational paradigms with artificial learning in MAS, laying the foundation for more intelligent and adaptive AmI systems across diverse domains

Industrial Diagnosis of Photovoltaic Systems Using Metaheuristics
    (2026) OUAHIBA, CHOUHAL
Photovoltaic (PV) systems are increasingly recognized as effective and sustainable solutions to meet the global demand for clean energy. However, their efficiency and performance are often compromised by various technical faults, including partial shading, cell aging, hotspots and short or open-circuit issues, among other operational challenges. Consequently, the development of intelligent and interpretable fault diagnosis methods is crucial to ensure the reliability and sustainability of these systems. This thesis presents innovative approaches that integrate intelligent optimization techniques and include metaheuristic algorithms, with explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) to enhance diagnostic accuracy and modeling efficiency. Initially, a hybrid signal filtering method was proposed to improve data quality and reduce noise, thereby strengthening the robustness of fault diagnosis using Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO ) to evaluate algorithmic effectiveness. Furthermore, an Adaptive variant of GWO (AGWO ) was developed for feature selection, significantly improving model accuracy and reducing execution time compared to conventional methods. To further advance classification capabilities, this research introduces the Discrete Grey Wolf Optimization (DGWO ) algorithm, which adapts classical GWO for discrete search spaces in rule-based classification. The proposed algorithm demonstrated high performance in terms of accuracy, robustness and interpretability, producing results that are both reliable and actionable for decision-makers. The findings confirm that combining intelligent optimization techniques, particularly metaheuristic algorithms, with explainable models provides a promising pathway for the development of advanced diagnostic systems. This approach ultimately enhances the efficiency and reliability of PV technologies while laying a solid foundation for real-world applications in monitoring, fault detection and data-driven decision-making.

Descriptive Modeling of Collaborative Practices in a Computer-Based Human Learning Environment
    (2025) Sofiane, Mounine Hemam
In an increasingly digital educational context, Computer-Based Human Learning Environments (CBHLEs) play a crucial role in supporting both individual and collaborative learning. Collaborative learning supported by these environments offers a major opportunity to strengthen learner engagement and improve the quality of peer interactions. However, to fully leverage this potential, it is essential to understand and assess learning dynamics using reliable indicators derived from interaction trace analysis. This thesis focuses on the design and computation of collaboration indicators in ComputerBased Human Learning Environments (CBHLEs). It proposes a model-driven architecture (MDA)-based approach to make the indicator computation platform-independent. Three main contributions are presented: • First contribution: a model transformation-based approach is proposed to compute collaboration indicators independently of the learning platform. • Second contribution: a formal model (DECIN Model) is introduced to assist teachers in designing valid collaboration indicators tailored to their observation needs. • Third contribution: the computation process is automated through the generation of Sequences of transformations, generated by a formal system (DECIN-AGST System). To support this approach, a platform-independent trace model (T-PIM) is proposed, along with formal constraints expressed in OCL to ensure the validity and consistency of the collected traces. Similarly, a generic model for collaborative indicators (CI-PIM) is defined, supported by constraints that ensure the quality of the generated indicators. Finally, the automation of transformation sequence generation is achieved through the implementation of the DECIN model in a formal system (DECIN-AGST), whose validity has been verified using the model checking method via the UPPAAL tool, thus ensuring safety, accessibility, and absence of deadlocks.

Recherche de nouveaux réfrigérants : Modélisation et Applications
    (2025) ZERFA, Abdenour

Improving the effectiveness of clay minerals for the removal of heavy metals
    (2025) Naouel , Hezil
The discharge of heavy metals into the environment represents a significant threat to ecosystems and human health. Among the available strategies, adsorption is widely considered to be the most promising due to its clarity, affordability, and high efficiency in eliminating metal ions, even in small amounts. The objective of this thesis is to enhance the adsorbent capacity of kaolin-type (from Guelma, east of Algeria) clays through chemical means, with the subsequent intention of utilizing these materials to remove heavy metals from an aqueous phase. The initial modification entailed the use of diphenylamine to synthesize DPA-Kaolin, with the objective of efficiently removing lead (II) and copper (II) from aqueous solutions. The subsequent modification involved the modification of kaolin with surfactants (SLS, SDBS, and their mixture), with the aim of efficiently removing mercury (II) from aqueous solutions. The characterization of the samples was conducted through a range of analytical methodologies, encompassing X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to ascertain their structural composition. In addition, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis were employed to determine their morphological characteristics. The findings showed an increase in the BET specific surface area of kaolin by nearly 25% (from 66.69 m².g −1 to 71.35 m².g −1 ) after DPA modification, and this increase demonstrated significantly greater maximum adsorption capacities for Pb(II) and Cu(II) on DPA-kaolin than on Nat-kaolin, with values of 151 µmol.g -1 and 134 µmol.g -1 , respectively, suggesting an enhanced adsorption capacity, which confirmed the successful modification of kaolin using DPA. Conversely, the specific surface area of kaolin increased significantly with the addition of surfactants, reaching 38.3%, 31.9%, and 17.5% for K-SLS, K-SDBS, and K-M, respectively. This finding indicates that the mercury adsorption capacity of kaolin modified with anionic surfactant SLS surpasses that of kaolin modified with a mixture of surfactants (SLS+SDBS) and finally kaolin modified with anionic surfactant SDBS. The corresponding values for mercury adsorption capacity were determined to be 17.77mg.g -1 , 15.77mg.g -1 , and 13.45 mg.g 1 , respectively.

Thin films of doped and undoped oxides, properties and photocatalytic application
    (2025) Sabrina , Roguai
This thesis focuses on the detailed investigation of the structural, optical, electrical, photocatalytic, and photodetector properties of doped ZnO thin films synthesized using the sol-gel dip-coating method. Two doping strategies were studied: erbium (Er) doping and lithium (Li) co-doping combined with secondary elements such as Mg, La, and Al. X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed the hexagonal wurtzite structure for all films. At higher Er concentrations (10% and above), a secondary Er-rich phase appeared, indicating the solubility limit of Er in the ZnO lattice. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that moderate Er doping (2–5%) improved film uniformity, while excessive doping led to porosity and defects. Photoluminescence (PL) results revealed enhanced near-band-edge emission with increasing Er content, and electrical measurements showed improved conductivity up to 10% Er doping. Photocatalytic tests using methylene blue demonstrated that 2% Er-doped ZnO performed best under UV light and sunlight irradiation. In the co-doped films, 1%Al–5%Li–ZnO exhibited the highest transmittance (92%) and the widest optical bandgap (3.46 eV). Meanwhile, 1%La–5%Li–ZnO showed the best electrical conductivity and excellent UV photodetector performance, with high photoresponsivity and a fast response time. Overall, Er doping mainly enhances the optical and photocatalytic properties of ZnO, while Li-based co-doping with La or Al significantly improves electrical and UV detection performance. These results highlight the great potential of doped ZnO thin films for applications in optoelectronics, UV photodetectors, and environmental remediation.

On the Robustness of Positive Linear Systems in Infinite Dimension
    (2025) Kada , Maissa
In the present research, it has been demonstrated that an explicit robust stability bound is generalized from the finite dimensional case to the infinite dimensional case. The systems that were investigated are known as Positive Linear Time-Delay Differential Systems (PLTDDS (s)), and they are subject to time-varying structural perturbations in Banach lattices. The Semigroup Method, the Principle of Comparison, and the Perron-Frobenius Theorem are all utilized in the current study. Furthermore, the coincidence of complex, real, and positive stability radii for a variety of particular cases is also demonstrated, and an explicit formula for the radius is derived. This is in addition to the radius that is described in detail.

Preparation and Characterization of Metal Oxide Thin Films for Photocatalytic Environmental Remediation
    (2026) A. DJELLOUL
This research aims to fabricate metal oxide thin films using the sol-gel dip coating method and to examine their effectiveness in the photocatalyt ic degradat ion of various solvent (ethanolmethanol) on a glass substrate, with applications in photocatalysis and photodetection, respectively. We examined the structural, morphological, optical, and electrical characterist ics of these films using various methods. X-ray diffraction patterns demonstrate that all films are polycrystalline and consist of a hexagonal wurtzite structure. The Mg-doped ZnO thin films, produced using ethanol solvent, have a preferential orientation along (002), with Scherer's formula indicat ing crystallite sizes between 22.82 and 36.07 nm. layers composed of thin layers of Na-doped ZnO and Mg-doped ZnO thin films were subjected to morphological analysis by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), revealing surfaces that were dense, homogeneous, and smooth. The EDS analysis ident ified peaks associated with the elements zinc, oxygen, magnesium, and sodium. Consequent ly, the composit ion of the thin films is validated, with the optical transparency of ZnO films approximat ing 90% within the visible spectrum, owing to their exceptional crystalline qualit y. The direct band gap varied from 3.22 to 3. 38 eV, whereas FT-IR spectra confirm the presence of ZnO and the effect ive incorporation of magnesium and sodium, corroborating the XRD findings. The analysis of photoluminescence mostly showed emission peaks. The outcomes of photocatalysis have shown that the incorporation of magnesium (Mg) and sodium (Na) into zinc oxide augments photocatalyt ic efficiency. The best degradation of the dye methyl blue under UV irradiat ion attains 99.91% after 2 hours, using thin layers of ZnO synt hesized with methanol solvent and doped with 9% Mg. The inclusion of doping increases electrical conduct ivit y levels. Magnesium and sodium doping provide enhanced structural and electrical characterist ics relat ive to elemental silver.
