Item Muslims’ Role in Civil Rights Movement in America(UNIVERSITY OF ABBES LAGHROUR-KHENCHELA, 2018) Tebib HaninAbstract: This research paper aims to identify the Muslims role in civil rights movement. The purpose of this work is to understand how and when African Americans were enslaved; how they did suffer from discrimination and their reactions toward racism. We will also get a close look to important figures who made great improvements to ameliorate the lives of African Americans, such as; Wallace Ford, Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X and others. This study seeks to find out to what extent Muslims were active in the civil rights movement. This work is divided into three chapters; the first one is about the History of Blacks in America, we describe Black societies at the time of the slave trade, the beginning of their immigration to America. How they were enslaved and how did they escape and free themselves. The second chapter is an introduction to the reassertion and rebirth of Islam in Black America, we will find out the reasons that attracted African Americans to join the NOI , and the famous figures in that organization. The last chapter contains impacts and achievements of those leaders (Wallace Ford, Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X). Key
