Item Effects of the methane-inhibitors Nitrophenol, 5-Nitrobenzimidazol and two new synthetic nitrocompounds on in vitro ruminal fermentation(elsevier, 2018-03-11) Kheddouma AsmaThe objective of this study was to examine the effects of four nitrocompounds (Nitrophenol, 5-Nitrobenzimidazol and two synthetic nitrocompounds ABLE 244 and ABLE 245) on methane production and fermentation characteristics using in vitro rumen batch culture. 0, 2, 8 or 12 μM of each nitrocompound were incubated. The higher concentrations of Nitrophenol and 5-Nitrobenzimidazol produced 60% less CH4 (P < 0.05) compared to controls, while two synthetic nitrocompounds ABLE 244 and ABLE 245 had no effect on CH4 production. Quantification of fermentation end-products indicated that fermentation efficiencies were not compromised by the nitro-treatments.Item Evaluation De Quelques Activités Biologiques Des Extraits De Capparis Spinosa L. Collectée De La Région Des Aurès (Djellal(Université Abbes Laghrour -Khenchela-, 2023) Encadreur: Khabtane Amira; Benabbes Ferial; Kheddouma AsmaAbstract Evaluation of some biological activities of extracts from Capparis spinosa L. collected from the Aurès region (Djellal). The main objective of this work is to evaluate several biological activities (antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant) of crude organic extracts (petroleum ether, chloroform, methanol) and a non-organic extract (aqueous) obtained from the leaves and stems of Capparis spinosa collected from the Djellal region, wilaya Khenchela, using the solid-liquid extraction procedure with different solvents of varying polarities. These extracts were subjected to phytochemical screening, and preliminary tests revealed the presence of cardiac glycosides, mucilages, essential oils, and tannins, as well as the absence of coumarin. The evaluation of antibacterial activity demonstrated that C. spinosa extracts exhibited significant antibacterial activity against certain bacterial strains (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Escherichia coli), highlighting their potential as antimicrobial agents. Regarding antioxidant activity against the DPPH radical using a spectrophotometer, Capparis spinosa extracts showed a high capacity to neutralize free radicals, indicating their potential as protective agents against oxidative stress. Furthermore, tests were conducted using the disc diffusion method on PDA agar medium with two fungi, Aspergillus niger and Penicillium spp. These extracts also exhibited antifungal activity, suggesting their potential use in the treatment of fungal infections. Four extracts prepared with organic solvents of increasing polarity; petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and methanol were used to test the antibacterial and antifungal activities of these plants with three different concentrations of each extract; 5, 10 and 15mg/ml. The results showed that Juglans regia seems to be more efficient against the isolated strains than Salvadora persica. Moreover the ethyl acetate extract of J. regia showed a high degree of antimicrobial activity. Forty bacterial isolates were identified from the oral cavity of healthy individuals of different age categories (from 10 to 44 years) and only seven isolates were selected and characterized as Staphylococcus saprophyticus (B1), Proteus vulgaris (B2), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (B3), Staphylococcus aureus (B4), Serratia marcescens (B5), Streptococcus salivarius (B6), Streptococcus mutans (B7) and a yeast species identified as Candida albicans (Y). The highest efficiency of all extracts of the two plants achieved with Streptococcus mutans (mean of diameters of inhibition zones MDIZs = 10.29mm) followed by Streptococcus salivarius (MDIZs = 9.75mm), Candida albicans (MDIZs = 6.45mm), Proteus vulgaris (MDIZs = 5.75mm), Staphylococcus aureus (MDIZs = 5.62mm), Serratia marcescens (MDIZs = 5.58mm), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (MDIZs = 4.87mm) and Staphylococcus saprophyticus (MDIZs = 3.08mm).
